I still haven't worked out typepad, but hopefully time will come and it will flow naturally to post new things. I've completed reading Evelyn Wood Seven-Day Speed Reading Program and it seems to me more like an essay of her impressions about speed reading and anecdotes about how taking a full course at Brittanica-Wood Center has helped a student improve their scores. And that would be it. Like were my impressions after first reading it for the first time last year. But for now, I' ve learned already to find in books even poor ones or ones written by ghost writers something of merit, a pure thought of the author I'd say. And so this time reading it was different. I started studying for my exams in September and I've applied a bit of her teachings. I'll let you know how it goes. By the way if you'd like I'd might share some of my notes on her book.
I've read basically every book on speed reading and accelerated learning I could get my hands on, and if you'd like we can discuss the topic freely and share experiences.
Funny thing is Wood in her book presents somehow modified version of Tony Buzan's mindmaps, the difference is in the simplicity. Wood proposes a system of straight lines and calls it slash recall patterns. Recall is to imply that it's made for revising. I've been doing this slash pattern for my law textbook and I'm quite happy about it- I'll let you know how it goes. :)
I'd ordered about a month ago books from Amazon, and I haven't got them delivered though with expediture shipping and a few days ago I got an email asking me to review them for the Amazon website. :) I think it's a test whether I can loose my temper. :) I'm writing about this because I decided some month and a half ago that I will order books each month and read on various topics to broaden my horizons and learn. I've always wanted to know things and to know how to do certain things and didn't know how to. But since I've fullfilled my chilldhood dream to be able to draw with a book of Betty Edwards I think it's worth the struggle to learn something new. And so I'm ordering but not until I get my first order. :) What you think?
